ABOUT SURVEYS

Surveys among early leaving students at Charles University are conducted annually during November and December. The survey targets individuals who left their studies early in the previous academic year (i.e., by September 30th of the current year). The questions in the questionnaire focus on the reasons for early leaving, whether the individual attempted to address or prevent their departure, the tools that could have prevented the dropout, and the possibility of returning to the university.

The results of the survey are shared with the university leadership and faculties (the Rector’s Collegium, the Extended Rector’s Collegium) and shared through the university-wide survey working group, which consists of over 60 members from across the university. Responsible staff receive raw data and basic evaluations, and for more detailed insights, a PowerBI dashboard with extensive filtering options is available. The results are not publicly disclosed, though a summary of the findings can be found here.

The outreach to all early leaving students is comprehensive. All individuals who left their studies early in the previous academic year (i.e., from October 1st to September 30th of the following year) are contacted.

The dataset contains 5,513 responses from early leaving students.
